OUR CLUB
Fencing belongs in Melbourne’s west.
Western Fencing Club gives young people a welcoming place to discover an Olympic sport, develop real skills and find out what they’re capable of.

OUR STORY
A local club with international experience
Western Fencing Club began in 2024 with a clear goal: to bring high-quality, enjoyable fencing to children in Melbourne’s western suburbs.
Based at RISE in Hoppers Crossing, we welcome children of every experience level: from those holding a foil for the first time to young competitors ready for their next challenge.
Our classes combine strong technical foundations with a positive environment where students can learn, improve and enjoy the sport.
WHAT MATTERS HERE
What we want every child to gain
Confidence
Students learn to trust their decisions, recover from mistakes and recognise their own progress.
Focus
Fencing develops concentration, strategic thinking and the ability to respond calmly under pressure.
Respect
Every class reinforces discipline, sportsmanship and respect for coaches, teammates and opponents.
HEAD COACH
Adam Karvalics
Originally from Hungary, Adam brings more than a decade of experience as a Foil Coach.
His coaching balances strong technical foundations with a supportive approach. Beginners feel comfortable taking their first steps, while developing competitors continue to be challenged.
Strong technique. Clear thinking. Confidence under pressure.

Connected to our community
As part of RISE in Hoppers Crossing, we’re proud to help local children stay active, make friends and discover a sport they can enjoy for years. Whether a child wants a new weekly activity or hopes to compete, there is a place for them here.
